SECURITY ENGINEER (DHS OR SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED)

NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a Security Engineer to support a newly-awarded DHS Program.  This role is remote, there may be occasional trips to Springfield, VA for implementations.  It is a direct-hire role with our client, a fast-growing Federal Integrator.  Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship and an active DHS EOD or DOD Secret Clearance is required.

Security Engineer


Task Description:
As a Security Engineer, you will help ensure the security of TSA’s human capital technology solution and the privacy of its customers. Combining security and system engineering backgrounds, you will manage the proper configuration of business processes to align with TSA and Federal cybersecurity standards and best practices. Activities include documenting and managing vulnerabilities and issues through POAMs, documenting and implementing security controls, working with government ISOs to understand security processes and methodologies, and supporting accreditation milestones. You will have the opportunity to to work across multiple technologies in agile team setup and will collaborate with functional analysts and client users.
  • Documentation and management of security issues and standards – 60%
  • Investigations and troubleshooting/analysis of security issues - 20%
  • Security control implementation – 10%
  • Reporting of status and interacting with customer ISOs – 10%

Required skills/Level of Experience:
Level 3: Minimum 5 to 7 years experience + Bachelor Degree or equivalent (Associate degree +2 years experience; 6 years experience; or relevant professional certification); Successful completion of higher education which has not resulted in a degree may be counted as one year of experience. Experience in large and complex IT projects, preferably in the Human Capital space – 3+ years
  • Experience in large and complex IT projects, preferably in the Human Capital space – 5+ years
  • Experience with security incident/problem/change management and reporting – 3+ years
  • Experience with supporting ATOs for Federal agencies – 3+ years
  • Proven experience and knowledge of NIST 800-53 and Federal ATO processes
  • Proven ability to learn and adopt new technologies

Preferred skills:
  • System administration and/or other hands-on technical experience
  • Experience with human capital systems, especially in support of Federal customers
  • Agile certification
