Team Lead, Estimating

 

Overview

As a team lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of a team of estimators. This includes assigning and monitoring work, providing feedback and coaching, and ensuring that projects are completed on time. In addition, you will also be required to estimate jobs to maintain a manageable workload among the entire team. As the team lead, you will also be responsible for ensuring that your direct reports follow the presales estimating “Standard Operating Procedures” and be the point of contact for any escalated issues.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for a team of estimators, providing leadership and mentorship.
  • Work with other leads to establish priorities and objectives for the estimating team that are in line with company goals.
  • Help individual team members grow their skills and careers by providing feedback, coaching, and opportunities for development (CFR process)
  • Delegate tasks and assignments to team members based on skillset and workload.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of your respective estimating team.
  • Participate in all “peer reviews’ related to your practice during the presales estimating phase.
  • Estimate projects to assist in maintaining a manageable workload across the team.
  • Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Broad knowledge of respective Systems engineering and/or design experience.
  • Experienced with Bluebeam and MS Office proficiency.
  • Knowledge of AV over IP technology and topologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve complex system problems.
  • Ability to work and think independently and ensure all deadlines are met.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 5+ years of system engineering in a similar role.
  • 3+ Years of proficiency with AutoCAD (Current version).
  • 3+ Years of architectural design work supporting technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the integration of related technologies.
  • Above average proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation of activities.
  • OEM Vendor certifications
  • HS Diploma, Community College or Technical School Graduate (or work experience equivalent)
  • Technology certifications (i.e., RCDD, CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D (preferred, but not required)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel may be required in MD-DC-VA Metro area.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • US Citizenship. Ability to obtain a Public Trust or DOD clearance is a plus, but not required.
