As a member of a System Administrator team for a large Linux enterprise system, the primary responsibility of the System Administrator will be to maintain, upgrade and provide support for Linux operating systems and infrastructure. The candidate needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems and respond to issues in a timely manner. The individual should be able to easily communicate technical concerns and solutions to people with varying degrees of technical knowledge as well as working with said individuals to resolve technical issues. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to maintaining system infrastructure, supporting upgrades and patches for Security and application support, testing patches prior to pushing to the enterprise, and testing/building new and existing servers. The ideal candidate would have experience in a traditional bare metal and VM environment as well as Cloud environments with a desire to gravitate more to the later.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Proactively manage system infrastructure including, databases, testing computer equipment, and other software and hardware.
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise.
- Perform system monitoring and analysis verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, performance tuning and troubleshooting of servers, software and hardware and respond to anomalies.
- Regularly upgrade system software and firmware as required.
- Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- BS degree in Computer Science or similar field preferred, relevant work experience may be substituted.
- 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Linux operating system.
- Good knowledge of several scripting languages.
- GITLAB and puppet experience desirable.
- GPFS/IBM ESS experience desirable.
- Experience with Cloud Environments and architectures under K8s orchestration desirable.
- General understanding of IP networks, switching, subnets and VLANs.
- General understanding of hardware to include Servers, Blade Chassis, Fiber Channels, SANS.
- Ability to respond to support requests after hours.
- Flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing environment.
- Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities.
- Experience with RH Directory Server or FOSS alternatives.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently.
- IA certification (either Security+ or CISSP).
CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI security clearance open to obtaining CI polygraph.
TRAVEL: Willingness to travel to customer sites preferred. Travel usually not to exceed 25%.
