One of our premier clients has an immediate need for a full-time Platform Engineer to work on-site at their headquarters location in Fairfax, VA. A successful candidate must have a TS/SCI w/CI Poly clearance to be considered for this position.
Job Description: Seeking a Platform Engineer (PE). The role of the PE is to deploy, maintain, and optimize a hybrid cloud infrastructure. Candidates should have in-depth understanding of Kubernetes administration as well as experience supporting application deployments in cloud-native environments. A strong background in Linux systems and programming is desirable. Candidates will work closely with clients to troubleshoot application issues and provide recommendations for transitioning workloads to the cloud. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to infrastructure modernization efforts, focusing on automation and scalability to meet evolving client needs.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a multitude of new and developing
cloud-based technologies that support and enhance Kubernetes. This can include cloud environments (AWS/C2E, GGS, etc.), virtualization technologies, AI use and implementation, and other supporting capabilities. Experience researching, testing, and implementing new tools and applications that support cloud-native environments is a plus.
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes cluster administration and application lifecycle management
Deep knowledge of container technologies (Docker, container runtimes, orchestration patterns)
Proficient with GitLab and version control workflows
Strong background in Linux, preferably RedHat-based distributions
Proficient in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash)
Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and frameworks for security, monitoring, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation
Advanced problem-solving skills: able to use prior experience and knowledge to address new situations; especially during interactions with developers
Demonstrated advanced analytical skills: able to use prior experience and knowledge to seamlessly incorporate new knowledge or information during client interactions.
Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with the program and PE team to be able to communicate
and implement best practices
Security certification (Security+ or CISSP)
Desired Skills:
Deploying and configuring Kubernetes clusters, storage solutions for both file and block
storage, and S3 solutions
Experience using Infrastructure-as-a-Service capabilities such as HashiCorp Terraform
Experience with Configuration Management (CM) automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, and/or Chef
Proficiency with Windows and Red Hat Linux/Unix environments to include Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCSE) or equivalent skills.
5+ years’ experience as Linux system engineer/admin
Proficient, efficient, and confident in writing and deploying Linux/UNIX scripts for system administration and file management
Experience configuring, securing, managing and troubleshooting Linux/Unix systems
Experience with public key infrastructure (PKI), secure shell (ssh) configuration and
troubleshooting, sssd, httpd
Experience deploying enterprise monitoring tools such as Grafana
Advanced writing skills: able to clearly articulate ideas for executive level as well as
technical staff consumption
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or 10 years of equivalent experience is desired.
