NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a Junior Data Scientist to support a Federal Program located in Arnold, MO. This is a direct-hire role with our client, a highly respected, fast-growing Federal Integrator. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI Clearance is required.
We are looking for a TS/SCI cleared Mid-Level Data Scientist in Arnold, MO with practical expertise in managing, transforming, and analyzing structured datasets in support of national security objectives. This position provides an opportunity to deliver data-driven solutions that directly impact the Intelligence Community. The role involves collaborating with analysts and mission stakeholders to import, clean, and structure large datasets using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle. The Data Scientist will contribute to the development and optimization of relational databases, ensuring strong performance, data integrity, and security. By designing efficient queries and repeatable workflows, this position enables the preparation of GEOINT, SIGINT, and OSINT data for advanced analysis. Success in this role requires an understanding of how real-world challenges are influenced by underlying data structures, with a focus on creating scalable, mission-aligned solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Import, clean, and transform datasets from multiple sources to support intelligence and defense missions.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize relational databases, applying best practices in normalization, indexing, and access control.
- Design and implement repeatable structured queries and workflows that enable data preparation and manipulation for large-scale analysis.
- Apply programming and scripting techniques (Python, HTML5/JavaScript, ArcObjects, SQL, GIS tools, and statistical methods) to automate processes and enhance analytic capabilities.
- Build and manage databases incorporating GEOINT, SIGINT, and OSINT data for mission needs.
- Translate complex data requirements into structured database solutions that align with operational objectives.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, new capabilities, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
- Effectively communicate technical processes and findings in clear, mission-relevant terms.
Must-Have Skills/Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience moving and manipulating data across applications using ELT techniques with Excel, Access, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
- Experience with Python and relevant Python libraries including Pandas and Geopandas
- Experience using Python to automate complex workflows and integrate with cloud services
- Experience with objected-oriented programming languages
- Data and Database experience:
- database admnistration and cloud-based data management
- relational databases and web development tools, including API integration
- Experience designing structured queries and database functions for large datasets.
- Background in data mining, normalization, and structured/unstructured data analysis.
- Deep knowledge of GEOINT products, data formats, and satellite imagery systems
- Experience with one or more software platforms ((ArcGIS Desktop, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server)
- Experience with one or more libraries (ArcObjects, Model Builder)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex details for any audience
- 2 years of relevant experience and a BA/BS degree (a mix of professional certifications and training may substitute for direct years of experience).
- Active TS/SCI clearance with eligibility to obtain a CI Polygraph.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Background in data visualization, including network analysis, matrix analytics, and graph-based methods that help generate operational intelligence products.
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) applications.
- Experience using AI/ML for feature extraction, data enrichment, and predictive analytics
- Prior experience supporting Intelligence Community operations.
- Familiarity with multi-INT and technology-focused research in support of mission activities.
- Experience maintaining GEOINT, SIGINT, or OSINT datasets relevant to mission priorities.
