SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

We have an opportunity for a Senior Account with our premier client in Mclean, VA.  They are a highly respected Federal Integrator with Product and Service offerings.
 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with approximately 10 years of progressive accounting experience to support a growing organization that delivers both product-based and professional services offerings. This role requires a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, and cost accounting, with a solid understanding of federal/GovCon accounting practices. Experience with Unanet is highly preferred; Deltek Costpoint or similar systems are also acceptable.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically strong, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment that blends commercial and government-contracted work.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  2. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  3. Support revenue recognition for both product sales and services contracts (including time & materials, fixed price, and cost-plus arrangements)
  4. Track and analyze project costs, labor, and indirect rates, ensuring accurate cost allocation
  5. Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports
  6. Support federal/GovCon accounting requirements, including FAR-compliant cost tracking and indirect rate structures
  7. Assist with audits (financial, DCAA, or other government-related audits as applicable)
  8. Maintain and optimize accounting processes within Unanet or Deltek Costpoint, including project setup, billing, and reporting
  9. Collaborate with program managers, finance leadership, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting
  10. Support process improvements, internal controls, and documentation initiatives

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  2. Approximately 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a mixed product and services environment
  3. Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  4. Experience with Unanet strongly preferred; Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems acceptable
  5. Advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
  6. Proven experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting
  7. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience supporting federal government contracts or GovCon organizations
  2. Experience with SaaS/Software/ARR
  3. Familiarity with FAR, cost accounting standards, indirect rates, and project-based accounting
  4. Experience with product revenue recognition alongside professional services billing
  5. CPA or progress toward CPA (preferred, not required)
  6. Experience working in growing or evolving organizations
