LINUX/CLOUD ENGINEER (ACTIVE TOP SECRET CLEARANCE)

NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a Linux/Cloud Engineer to support a Federal Program in Springfield, VA.  This is a direct-hire role with our client, a fast-growing Federal Integrator.  An active Top Secret Clearance is required.


Linux / Cloud Engineer 

Description:

This requirement is for a cloud-systems engineer supporting Research, Development, Testing, and multiple phases of product Evaluation (RDT&E).  The ideal candidate possesses a broad range of systems experiences and embraces challenges as opportunities to showcase their expertise and capacity for problem solving.  This position comes with broad latitude to define and implement many of the duties described below within both traditional and non-traditional information technology bounds.  The client will be frequently seeking advice and leveraging your expertise to propose solutions to complex technology problems which are often first of their kind technologies within the Intelligence Community.

 

Additionally, the selected candidate will: 

 

Interface directly with software developers to design, establish, and maintain infrastructure (both physical and virtual) support the business and engineering needs

Demonstrate new technologies and capabilities the cloud

Perform general systems administrator duties such as:

Perform software installations, patches, and upgrades through a variety disparately connected means

Monitor systems health

Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues

Implement security best practices under applicable federal and generally accepted industry standards security codes and principles

Optimize systems to meet individuals performance expectations (i.e., cost, up time, redundancy)

Develop, implement, and maintain automated data back-up and recovery strategies

Provide software deployment support to multiple development teams simultaneously

Utilize existing or create new tools and processes to optimize and maintain systems to coincide with organizational goals

Communicate a holistic strategy for documenting all of the above using technology means (i.e. Git, Redmine, etc.)

 

Required Skills:

 

10+ years of experience in a direct or directly related capacity performing system engineering functions

AWS Certification

Network and Linux administration

Experience implementing serverless technologies (i.e., AWS Lambda, Batch)

Experience with Docker container orchestration, and other VM-related technologies

Experience implementing Amazon Web Services (AWS) scalable architectures

Practical implementation of generally accepted DevOps principles

Familiarity with common programming and scripting languages (i.e., Bash, Python)

Direct experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud technologies and the practical application of AWS services into both R&D and Operational Environments

Ability to work independently or as a member of a team with little or no supervision

Ability to develop, propose, and support cloud technology solutions for a broad scope of developmental software tools

Excellent troubleshooting skills

Excellent communication skills
