SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER

NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a Senior Network Engineer with strong Data Center experience in Ashburn, VA.  This is a direct-hire role with our client, a Cisco Gold Partner.  As the Senior Network Engineer, you will be a dynamic contributor to the Presale/Post sale team for one of the most successful, technology solutions providers in the nation.    This position requires approximately 50% travel.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for network planning, design, implementation & optimization services as a post sales.
  • Create High Level design and Low Level of Enterprise/Campus/data center networks utilizing industry best practices and Cisco hardware to include: Catalyst Switches, Nexus Switches and Cisco Routers
  • Design and implement and migration of network solutions including Routers, Switches other network hardware appliances.
  • Perform new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Perform remote and on-site client consultation: plan, design, implement, and support the data center infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Must be comfortable working in a demanding environment where client satisfaction is our goal
  • Will effectively communicate with clients and end users. Facilitates communication between the customers and various teams to resolve any and all issues
  • Escalates issues and problems on behalf of the Customer
  • Tracks critical order milestones to meet customer delivery date
  • Coordinates final testing between customer, consultants, and communication technicians
  • Assist with pre-sales efforts such as bid response, SOW generation, BOM generation, Presentations and Demonstrations.
What You Need for this Role
 
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred
  • Must have at least 7 years of experience designing, deploying, and implementing core route/switch and/or data center networks in accordance with industry best practices
  • Extensive experience on Cisco Catalyst 6500/6800/9000/3800/2900 series , Nexus 9k/7K/5K/2K and ISR Routers experience required.
  • Experience logical design models (L2/L3, VPC, VDC,VRF, Datacenter Zones, Spanning tree, VFR, VTP, VLANs), knowledge of physical cabling ,Fiber cabling, Racking/Stacking).
  • Working technical knowledge of network protocols (STP,HSRP,VTP,DNS, NTP, DHCP,CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP etc.) and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec, TustSec).
  • Strong knowledge IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
  • Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, DMVPN, SD-WAN)
  • Configuration management of networking devices using automation tools (DNAC, Cisco Prime)
  • SD-WAN and SDA Knowledge.
  • Knowledge or experience with Meraki is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
What Sets You Apart
  • Certifications in CCIE R&S and/or Data Center.
  • Similar previous work experience.
